3.Dravid or Ganguly? Who will Coach Team India after Fletcher?
Two possible contenders for next coach of the Indian cricket team are Rahul Dravid and Saurav Ganguly. Former Indian skipper Ganguly might get a chance to prove himself once again but outside the pitch this time. Under the context of current Team Inidan coach Duncan Fletcher ending his contract with BCCI soon, the council is on hunt for a new cricket coach for Indian team. Ganguly who is putting in efforts to occupy Fletcher’s position is said to have disclosed his desire of coaching Team India to BCCI cricket administrator Jaganmohan Dalmiya. A senior official of BCCI conveyed that though Dalamiya was fascinated with the thought, he didn’t promise dada anything about it.
On knowing the news, a few rivals of Ganguly in BCCI have also put forward the name of Rahul Dravid for the position. Apart from the two former cricketers, also on BCCI’s scrutinization list are Praveen Amre of Mumbai and R. Sridhar of Hyderabad for Indian coach.
Off the record, some BBCI officials say that Ganguly has more scope to be selected when compared to the others on the list. Ganguly and Dalmiya, both belong to the state of Bengal. Also Ganguly is Dalmiya’s pet who had flashed in the past as Team India’s captain with the support of his master.
