4 Detained Indians in Libya will be Rescued Soon: MEA
Ministry of External Affairs’ spokesperson Vikas Swarup confirmed abduction of 4 Indians in Libya in a press meet held today. He said that the four Indian teachers have been detained in Sirte, a stronghold town of the Islamic State in Libya. Sirte is a town 500km away from capital city Tripoli. Vikas Swarup confirmed that of the four detained Indian teachers, one is from Hyderabad, one from Srikakulam, one from Raichur and the other from Bengaluru. Three of the four Indians are faculty at University of Sirte while the fourth teacher works at the varsity’s branch in Jufra.Vikas Swarup said that steps are being taken to rescue the four Indian teachers from ISIS safely.
The wife of one of the abducted teachers Gopala Krishna on the other hand requested government to rescue her husband. She mentioned that her husband has been continuing a Professor in Libya since past 7 years. The woman said that she got to know about the kidnap yesterday. When her husband was on his way to work along with 3 others, militants blocked their way and took over control of their vehicle, she said. Her husband last spoke to her last evening. The woman told that her family is residing in Nacharam of Hyderabad.
