4 Months old baby has 31 Fingers and Toes
An average human has 10 fingers and 10 toes, altogether they are 20. In some cases, people have additional fingers on the hands or legs. But here is a rare case in which a 4 month old baby is found having 31 fingers, both hands and legs included. How is it possible?
Going into detail, in Pingjiang County in Hunan province of China, a four month old kid named Hong Hong was born with 15 fingers and 16 toes due to a congenital condition termed as Polydactilism. The condition was transmitted to the kid from his mother who has 12 fingers and 12 toes. The extra fingers are to be removed surgically. Doctors told the parents that the surgery is to be done when the boy ‘s age is between 6 and 12 months and would cost around Rs. 18 lakhs. Being unable to afford the amount, the parents are approaching NGOs and seeking help on the internet. Polydactilism condition affects about one in every 1,000 births and is observed in humans, cats and dogs.
