6 Died, 100 Injured in Earthquake
Earthquake jolted India-Myanmar boundary early this morning at around 4:40 AM for 8 seconds which recorded magnitude of 6.8 on Richter scale. The U.S.Geological Survey revealed that epicenter of the earthquake lied 57 km below ground level at 29km west of Imphal. West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Assam states in India felt tremors. People evacuated their houses and buildings and rushed out in terror.
The quake caused loss of life and property in Imphal. 4 persons died and more than 100 were injured due to earthquake as buildings collapsed. Meanwhile, PM Narendra Modi inquired officials the how abouts of people in various states and asked them to be alert. Modi sugessted Home Minister Rajnath Singh to speed up relief operations. The PM spoke to CMs of various states affected by earthquake to know the status of the places and people.
