Abdul Kalam Seeked Blessings for Poor in Tirupathi
Former Indian President, scientist Abdul Kalam who was popularly known as People’s President always had people in his thought. APJ Abdul Kalam visited Tirupathi to seek blessings from Lord Sri Venkateswara in Tirumala temple in the grade of President of the nation in 2003. Though Kalam had opportunity to visit Tirumala whenever he wants, he never did so as it would cause severe inconvenience to other devotees. It was only after confirming with the TTD for the dates that would not cause discomfort that he fixed his trip to the temple. Kalam bought Archana ticket worth Rs.400 and asked the priests to pray in the name of all poor people in the nation and seeked blessings for them and their welfare. When Abdul Kalam visited Trumala Lord Venkateswara temple in 2009 as former Presiden also, he asked priest to do the same. Kalam likes Tirupathi laddu like we all do. Moreover, Kalam who immensely loved his mother never skipped visiting Lord’s mother Vakulamatha temple. TTD OSD (Dollar) Seshadri recollected this about Abdul Kalam.
