AIIMS Doctor Suicide Case: ‘Gay’ Husband Arrested for Harrassment
A fresh twist in suicide case of AIIMS doctor in New Delhi. Priya Vedi, a doctor at the AIIMS (All India Medical Sciences), New Delhi was found with her wrist slit at a hotel in Paharganj in East Delhi. Police say that a suicide note found from her room says she was mentally and physically harassed by her husband, Dr Kamal Vedi who is also a doctor at AIIMS. The couple had been married for 5 years were resident doctors of AIIMS. In a four-page suicide letter and a note on her Facebook page, Priya Vedi said her husband was a homosexual and accused him of mentally torturing her for dowry.
“We don’t have any physical relation till now… I found a fake gmail account in his laptop in which he was chatting with his gay friends. Inspite of knowing this I decided to help him as a wife. But he tortured me mentally… And last night he tortured me emotionally… You are a demon who will take my life away from me” mentioned Priya Vedi in the note. The police have booked Dr Vedi for abetment to suicide and under various sections of the Dowry Act.
