AP Observes Peaceful Bandh for Special Status
The bandh initiated demanding special status for Andhra Pradesh by CPM and people’s organizations is continuing peacefully. Congress party and YSRCP offered support to the bandh. Buses lay stagnant in RTC depots as a result of statewide bandh. CPI members blocked the passage for buses by sitting outside depots. Rastha roko is being conducted at some prominent junctions. Police arrested those groups of people who tried to block buses at Kadapa bus stand and Eluru bus depot. Petrol bunks and educational institutions are all closed temporarily. Some theatres stopped showing movie on morning show as a sign of protest for special status for AP. Since bandh was observed yesterday in Tirupathi as a result of Munukoti’s death (lit himself afire), the place has been exempted from today’s bandh. The bandh in AP received support from lorry transport managements. Police force is set up at various places to prevent any unwanted situation from happening in AP.
