Apple to Hyderabad
Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple Inc landed in Hyderabad yesterday to inaugurate Apple development centre in Waverock, Hyderabad. For Apple Inc, the centre is said to be the largest outside USA and it could generate more than 4500 jobs in the coming few months. Tim, who took over as Apple’s CEO in 2011, has been betting big on India as the next big market for Apple products after the market seemed to stagnate in several other developed countries. For the past few months, Apple’s officials had been interacting closely with the Telangana government to set up the company’s base in India. With Apple setting up its development centre in the city, it’s yet another feather in the cap of Hyderabad, which is already home to some of the biggest IT companies in the world including Amazon, Google and Microsoft. Soon after inaugurating the development centre, Tim Cook, who was accompanied by Telangana’s Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and KTR, Minister For IT & Urban Development, addressed the media and stated that he’s thrilled about the opportunity that Indian market presents to a company like Apple.
