Are You Happy in Dubai? ‘NO’ Attracts Police Call

If you are in Dubai and you say NO when asked whether you are happy in the city or not, police will call you. True. Going into detail…

As a part of online survey initiated by Dubai to make itself to the list of top 10 happiest cities in the world by 2021, people living in Dubai are being asked about their happiness in Dubai. They are supposed to choose one of the three options that include Sad, Happy and Neutral. Once they choose Sad, the Dubai police will give a call to know the reason from those who chose the option. “This looks like to me an attempt to try to slightly frighten people into A) replying to the survey question and B) replying to say they’re happy because people really don’t want to be rung up by the police with the question: ‘Well, what’s your problem?’. “But I don’t know. Maybe there’s something sincere about it,” said William Davies who published a book titled ‘The Happiness Industry’. The happiness survey was alunched by Dubai police on Wednesday. It consists of Dubai king Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s picture, a picture of Burj Khalifa (world’s tallest building). ‘Are you Happy in Dubai’ is the question asked. Below it are options that read ‘Sad’, ‘Neutral’, ‘Happy’. Dubai police officials said that around 84% of 2,00,000 people who attempted the survey chose ‘Happy’, 6% chose ‘Neutral’ and 10% chose ‘Sad’.
