Ayodhya Disputed Land: SC Allows Repair & Basic Facilities at Temple
The Supreme Court allowed repair and provision of basic facilities at Ramlala Temple on disputed land in Ayodhya. BJP leader Subrahmanian Swamy filed a petition in the apex court seeking asic amenities for devotees who visit Ramlala temple in Ayodhya. He mentioned in his petition that not even drinking water is available for pilgrims at the temple.
Subrahmanian Swamy said in his petition that the status quo order passed by the apex court in 1996 was limited to prohibit building of any structure at the disputed site. He sought provision of facilities to those pilgrims who visit the Ramlala temple in Ayodhya to site the birthplace of Lord Sri Ram. In March, the SC asked center to consider feasible facilities that can be provided to citizens who visit Ramlala temple in Ayodhya. A report was asked to be submitted on the same in 4 weeks. Now, as center submitted its report, Supreme Court allowed repairs and provision of basic facilities at Ramlala temple on disputed land in Ayodhya.
