Case Against Rajamouli’s Father; Is Story Really a Copy?
Case was filed against Rajamouli’s father Vijayendra Prasad who delivered stories for super hits like Baahubali, Bahrangi Bhaijaan etc. A man named Maheem Joshi approached Mumbai high Court claiming story of Bajrangi Bhaijaan is his story. He mentioned in the complaint he lodged against Vijayendra Prasad that story of Bajrangi Bhaijaan is very much near to his script and even most of the locations are the same. The man alleged that he had given his story to Viacom 18, and Parveez Shaik belonging to same organization was awarded credits in screenplay, while his name was mentioned nowhere. Joshi said that he had plans of debuting in Bollywood with the story. Now that the story has been used, he appealed to court that it should order producer of Bajrangi Bhaijaan to pay him a compensation of Rs.50 crore. Court, after hearing the case, issued notices to producer Rockline Venkatesh, co-producer Salman Khan, director Kabir Khan and Writer Vijayendra Prasad.
Court will decide who the story of Bajrangi Bhaijaan actually belongs to. While speaking on the program ‘Open Heart with RK’, Vijayendra Prasad mentioned that the story of Bajrangi was inspired from megastar Chiranjeevi’s ‘Pasivaadi Pranam’. A Pakistani couple arriving to India for their kid’s operation and their reaction after operation in Ino-Pak backdrop was the basis for Bajrangi, said Vijayendra Prasad. So, there is more scope that Vijayendra Prasad’s story might have coincided with that written by Maheem Joshi.
