World’s First Transgender Principal in India
A transgender named Manabi Bandhopadhyay recorded Indian and world history as the first transgender principal. Manabi will take charge as principal of Krishanagar Women’s College in West Bengal on 9th june. Manabi is currently working as a Bengali associate professor in Vivekananda Satavarshiki Mahavidyalaya. Technical education minister Ujjal Biswas, who is chairman of the college governing body said that they were in need of a principal with a strong personality to run the college smoothly and had chosen Manabi for the post. West Bengal state education minister Partha Chatterjee said that he does not interfere in the decisions taken by the College Service Commission and this is also their idea.
