’Janata Parivar’ Party Set Up: Anti-Modi Merger to Take BJP Down
In order to defeat a political party in India, members of other parties implement various strategies, take advantage of their pitfalls and try all possible schemes. But a party being established now to defeat a person could be the first time in last 30 years. Aiming at taking on Modi’s government and BJP’s rule, a party has been set up under the name of ‘Janata Parivar’.
Way back in 1977, a political party was set up by Lok Nayak Jaya Prakash that was a massive merger of many parties named Janataa Party in order to pose strong opposition against the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Janata Party also ruled the nation for 2 years after winning with a huge majority of votes. After couple of years, the party collapsed as its members diffused. Members who took part in the political experiment ‘Janatha Party’ and those who emerged leaders by latched on Jaya Prakash’s revolution are also present in the current experiment ‘Janatha Parivar’.
Five parties are merging into Mulayam Singh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party. They are Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United), Lalu Prasad’s Rashtriya Janata Dal, Om Prakash Chautala’s Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and HD Deve Gowda’s Janata Dal (Secular). Mulayam will be the president of the new political front. “Our main aim is to take on BJP. We will travel across the country to spread our message. Our policy is to take BJP out of power by practicing politics of socialism. Bihar will be first battlefield,” said Lalu. Leaders also expressed that scope for religious differences has increased under Modi’s rule. Basic truth is that the senior leaders are unable to digest the fact that Modi, a junior to them is ruling about the country. As they didn’t find power sufficient to take Modi down separately, all of them united to form the Janatha Pariwar party so as to accomplish the task. We have to wait and see whether the unification helps them succeed in countering BJP and Narendra Modi or not.
