Microsoft to Cut Down 7800 Employees
Software technology giant Microsoft announced that it is cutting down 7,800 employees globally. Soon after the acquisition of Nokia, Microsoft laid off as many as 18,000 employees. This is being done as part of a restructuring to its phone hardware business.
“We are moving from a strategy to grow a standalone phone business to a strategy to grow and create a vibrant Windows ecosystem including our first-party device family. In the near-term, we’ll run a more effective and focused phone portfolio while retaining capability for long-term reinvention in mobility”, this was the mail sent by Microsoft CEO Sathya Nadella to employees.
