NHRC Notice To A.P Over ‘Killing Of Smugglers’

The National Human Rights Commission issued notice to Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday seeking report on the encounter of 20 alleged red sandal smugglers in Seshachalam forest of Chittoor district as it was contemplated to have violated human rights. The NHRC, taking Suo Motu note of the incident has given notice to the Chief Secretary and DGP of Andhra Pradesh to submit reports of justification regarding encounter alleged by Andhra police and forest personnel within 2 weeks. It also said that the hearing will be at the camp sitting of the commission that will be held on 23rd of this month in Hyderabad.
