Non-Bailable Arrest Warrant Against Lalit Modi
A non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against former IPL Chairman Lalit Modi by a court in IPL money laundering case. The Enforcement Directorate moved special court under PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) to issue the warrant. Lalit Modi is former commissioner of IPL and money laundering case was filed by ED against him. Modi ran away to London in 2010 after losing post as chairman of IPL and being caught up in cases. Lalit Modi refused to India after summons issued by ED as he alleged death threat from underworld. So, the special court finally issued arrest warrant. Officials are preparing grounds to arrest Modi. It is known that Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje are allegedly accused of assisting Lalit Modi. The issue is also creating political conflicts.
