Oka Manasu Movie Review And Rating
Oka Manasu marks the debut of Niharika Konidela. All Mega fans are eagerly waiting to watch their Mega Princess on screen. Naga Shaurya is paired with Niharika in the film.
Story : Oka Manasu
Surya (Naga Shaurya), is a young guy who make settlements in order to grow as a politician. He falls in love with Sandhya (Niharika) who is a doctor in Government Hospital. Surya’s father (Rao Ramesh) wants to see him as an MLA in the future. After closely moving with Surya, Sandhya develops a bad liking for the life style of Surya which is always fearful as she feels Politics is risky. In the mean time, Surya gets an opportunity to settle in politics. But unfortunately, a bad incident changes Surya’s life and he gets imprisonment. After three years, he comes back on bail and meets Sandhya again. They start living separately. Surya’s uncle who is an MLA (Nagineedu) proposes Surya’s marriage with his daughter and promises that he will make Surya a big politician for which Surya’s father accepts.
What decision will Surya take in this confused situation? Will Surya Fulfil his father’s dream of becoming an MLA? Will he continue his life with Sandhya? will be answered in the rest of the story of Oka Manasu.
Performance of Actors
Naga Shaurya and Niharika Konidela performed well as Surya and Sandhya. This is Naga Shaurya’s best performance after Oohalu Gusagusalade. Naga Shaurya impresses with his subtle performance and make everyone feel like watching a character from our real lives. Niharika could not have asked for a better debut than Oka Manasu as she got the role that has scope to perform and most importantly, the film revolves around her. Not many actors get that opportunity with the first film itself. Niharika’s innocence added glamour to the role Sandhya. Niharika’s dialogue delivery, her expressions and everything is perfect through out the film. Both Shaurya and Niharika make a perfect pair in the film.
Rao Ramesh played a good role in the film as Shaurya’s father. He rocked in his scenes and he was a perfect choice for the role. Pragathi, Nagineedu, Srinivas Avasarala, Vennela Kishore, Krishna Bhagavan are good in their respective roles and made their presence felt. Lyricist Ramajogaiah Sastry shines in a surprising cameo in Oka Manasu.
The major plus point in Oka Manasu is the film’s actors.
Tecnical Team Performance
The cinematography by Ram Reddy is nice. The songs came out very well on the screen. The locations of Vizag are nicely captured and beautifully presented. The art work is Impressive! The costume selection and styling for Niharka is perfect. Niharika’s mother Padmaja and Gauri Naidu takes the credit in this aspect for making Niharika look like a girl next door rather than a girl living far from reality! The music by Sunil kashyap is good. Lyrics penned by Ramajogaiah Sastry and Bhaskarabhatla are in sync with the situations. The background score of the film is not so impressive. The production values of the film are good.
Rama Raju, the director of the film has got critical acclaims for his debut film Mallela Theeram Lo Siri Malle Puvvu. Not many of us got the opportunity to watch the film as it ran only a few days in the theatres.
Love, Time, Change and Situations
The film revolves around the above mentioned four things. From time to time, as situations keep changing, people do change but what about Love? Will Love also change with the change in Time and also change in People?
This questions might have sparked the brain of the director Rama Raju who ended up making Oka Manasu by providing the same confusion that the questions offer to us. There are some very good dialogues in the film which really elevated the situations Sandhya and Surya are stuck in. The audiences neither feel the love nor the pain of Sandhya and Surya in the film which is the biggest failure of Rama Raju. From beginning to the ending, there is always a single feeling for the viewers while watching the couple on screen.
Both Sandhya and Surya look good on screen but at the same time both wont create any impact on us! They love each other, they fight with each other, they romance and they part ways but none of the feelings make us excite or equally emote with them. There is no clarity in the first half of the film about what actually the director is trying to reveal with his characters. Nothing really happens in the first half. There may be a feel in the story which goes missing before it reaches us. The best part of the film is the last fifteen minutes where everyone (people in the theatres) is so alert and enjoyed watching. The climax is too good but the way director took us to the climax is completely disappointing.
The boring and pale narration really tests the patience. The film is about Surya and Sandhya. The director wasted a lot of time in establishing the characters and registering them with us. Instead, he could have concentrated on taking the film forward with the main story. The slow paced narration and boring screenplay dominates the good moments that happen in the film. In the end, though the climax brings a positive feel the process we have gone through to reach there ruins it.
Oka Manasu is a boring tale of Love and its journey through different Situations. Both Niharika and Naga Shaurya excels in their roles. With few good moments here and there, the film appeals to be dragged and boring!
- Last Fifteen Minutes of the film
- Slow Narration
- Run Time
