Phone Tapping: Relief for Telecom Companies in SC




Telecom service providers get relieved as Supreme Court offered a week’s time for submission of call data in phone tapping case. It ordered the Vijayawada court not to open it for 3 weeks. After one month, the SC ordered investigation in the case after 1 month. The court made clear that any objections may be put forward regarding the verdict in High Court. The SC questioned telecom companies why they approached it without going to High Court. The telecom service providers informed the SC that governments of AP and Telangana are pressurizing them for call data. It is known that service eproviders approached Supreme Court challenging the orders passed by Vijayawada court.
