An eight-year-old girl from Agra wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking financial help for her treatment as she has a hole in her heart. Taiyyaba wrote to Modi about her heart problem and told him that her family was not financially capable to get her treatment done. She mentioned that her father is a cobbler in a footwear shop. It was tough for him to run the family with his meager salary. He could hardly afford the expensive treatment in Delhi, suggested by the doctors. A doctor Kalra advised the couple to write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about their child’s heart disorder. She told them that they could be offered help by Modi under Beti bachao-beti padhao campaign.
Taiyyaba did the same,as told by Dr.Kalra. She immediately wrote a letter to Narendra Modi. Taiyyaba said, “I have a hole in my heart. My father didn’t have money for my operation. I saw on television that PM works for everyone. I deserve to live.” The PM’s office immediately responded to her letter, assuring her of arranging for her treatment at New Delhi’s GB Pant Hospital, where all the expenses incurred will be borne by the government. The child’s parents said that they received reply within a few days of them posting a letter to Modi and thanked him for the kind support in saving their child.
