Rs.400 Cr for Repair of London’s Big Ben Clock

The clock worked continuously for a century years and London government is taking measures to put it back in form. Repair of the Big Ben might cost upto 40 million pound (Rs.400 crore), estimates government of London.
Big Ben that was set up as a part of Palace of Westminster in the heart of London, capital of Britain in 1859 is quite famous. The clock that functioned for 156 years was stopped for 26 days for renovation in 1976. Along with rusting of various metals in the clock, it also cracked. Government is firm on repairing the Big Ben during next two years, however, no specific dates for beginning the work have been mentioned so far. The clock tower is 315 feet tall. In order to see inside of the tower, one has to climb 334 steps. Government has taken up the task of renovating clock tower seriously since the Big Ben is not only a historical monument but also a pride of London. Also London government is ready to spend any amount of money for the purpose.
