RTC Strike Continues; Troubles Passengers
RTC strike is continuing in the telugu states. Demanding a fitment equal to that given to government employees, RTC unions called for a strike midnite yesterday and is still continuing. No buses are seen on roads in both the states. They are parked in depots. While long distance buses stopped working since yesterday midnight, other buses are cancelled today from 6:00am.
No buses are seen running in entire Telangana. 700 buses belonging to 9 depots in Warangal district have been stopped. In the district, 4,500 RTC employees took part in the strike. RTC strike in Karimnagar resulted in agitation. RTC Authorities made alternate arrangements to run buses through private drivers, after which aggressed staff held a dharna outside the depot. They attacked a private driver who tried to drive bus out of the depot and injured him. In other districts of Telangana also, no buses are functioning, which is causing trouble to passengers.
On the other hand, RTC strike is also noticed in Andhra Pradesh, resulting in non-functioning of buses in the state. 920 buses in Kurnool have not got onto roads. 500 buses from 6 depots in Srikakulam, 925 buses from 9 depots in Cudappah and buses in other districts have also been stopped in respective depots. This is causing great inconvenience to passengers of both states. Police officials have taken high security measures at bus depots in both states.
