SC Judge Who Rejected Yaqub’s Plea Receives Threatening Letter
Supreme Court Justice Deepak Mishra who rejected Yaqub Memon’s mercy plea received threatening letter. We will definitely kill you irrespective of how much ever security is provided to you, read a few lines in the letter. With this, Delhi police tightened security for Deepak Mishra. Some unidentified men who are planning to avenge Yaqub Memon’s execution had written the letter to the Judge. A case was filed by Delhi police against this and investigation started.
When the Tada court sentenced Mumbai blasts accused Yaqub Memon to death, he filed a mercy petition for cancellation of death sentence, requesting President Pranab Mukherjee. With this, Yaqub approached Supreme Court and filed a petition requesting his death sentence to be converted to life imprisonment, which the SC judge Deepak Mishra and his bench rejected after discussions went on till 3 am. Finally, Yaqub Memon was executed on 30th july.
