Single Emergency No. 112 Soon in India
A single emergency number 112 will soon be brought up in India like 911 is used in America. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) proposed 112 as the single emergency number in India, to which Department of Telecom (DOP) agreed. It is known that number currently being used for police service is 100, health service is 108, fire department are 101 and 102. Once 112 is brought into use, all these numbers will not be in use. However, DOT officials said that all these emergency numbers will be in use for one more year so that public will slowly get habituated to 112. The date from which 12 will be in use will be disclosed soon, they said.
