Smart Cities List Announced: 3 in AP, 2 in Telangana
The Central Government announced 98 smart cities listed for Smart Cities scheme. Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu announced the list in a press meet held in Delhi. Three cities from AP and two from Telangana were listed by him. Hyderabad and Warangal in Telangana; Visakhapatnam, Tirupathi, Kakinada from Andhra Pradesh have been selected by center. Minister Venkaiah Naidu mentioned that during the next 6 years, development will be made using Rs.3 lakh crore. Every year, each smart city will be provided Rs.100 crores, he said. Most number of cities, as many as 14 were selected from Uttar Pradesh, 12 from Tamil Nadu, 7 from Madhya Pradesh,6 each from Gujarat and Karnataka, 3 from AP and 2 from Telangana.
