Soth African Cricketers Hospitalized in Chennai-Food Poisoning
As many as ten South African Cricket players have been hospitalized due to food poisoning after playing their tri-series match with India A in Chennai. Opener Quinton de Kock was admitted to hospital soon after the game and three other players, during course of the match. “With half of the squad going down ill overnight South Africa was forced to play (against India A today) an ill-balanced starting XI that had only four frontline bowlers with the likes of Dean Elgar and Khaya Zondo to make up the rest of the overs”, said Cricket South Africa in a press release.
“Reeza Hendricks, Zondo and Mthokozisi Shezi were all on the sick list but had to play because there was nobody else available but all three had to be hospitalised during the course of the match. The same applied to De Kock who was hospitalised after the match,” the release said. India A will be replacing South Africa A in Monday’s tri-series match against Australia A. South Africa was actually supposed to play the game against Australia but as 10 players are hospitalized, match has been postponed to Tuesday, said CSA. The South African A team management reportedly requested Rahul Dravid to make changes in schedule since atleast 6 of its players are not in a position to play today. Dravid who accepted their request rescheduled their match against Australia to Tuesday.
