Supreme Court Strikes Off Yaqub Memon’s Plea
The plea filed by Yaqub Memon, Mumbai blasts accused to stay his execution tomorrow was struck off by Supreme Court. The apex court opined that investigation procedure was carried out correctly and there is no necessity to conduct it once again. After prolonged hearing on Memon’s mercy plea, court pronounced this verdict. Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao rejected Yaqub’s mercy plea. So, finally, the plea reached President of India, Pranab Mukherjee. The President should decide on Yaqub’s petition today itself. Only if he shows mercy on the accused, he will escape death. Otherwise, the 1993 Mumbai blasts accused will be executed tomorrow in Nagpur jail.
