Transgenders to be titled ‘Mx.’
Men are titled ‘Mister’.. Mr, unmarried women as ‘Miss’.. Ms and married women as ‘Mistress’.. Mrs in English. But transgenders were not given any such honorofic so far in the language. Recently, British government has nodded to addressing third genders with the prefix ‘Mx’. The term has been in use since past 4 years unofficially. As it became very popular in the country, government announced it officially. Hereafter, England’s government ordered all govt offices, banks, universities to approve the honorific. The title has been added, without fanfare, to official forms and databases and is under consideration by the Oxford English Dictionary for inclusion in its next edition.
