TTD Should Manage Shirdi Sai Temple: Raj Thackarey
Sai Baba temple in Shirdi stands as India’s 2nd wealthiest temple after Lord Venkateswara’s temple in Tirupathi. The temple is presently in Shirdi Sai Trust’s under. The services offered by Shiridi Sai Trust that has huge income are very poor. Though dormitories, cottages were built by the trust, devotees choose to stay in private lodges and hotels. Cleanliness and roads are administered in Shiridi by the Gram Panchayat, which are very dissatisfactory. Apart from monitoring the funds, the Trust does nothing useful to devotees. Also there are many allegations on trust members corruption.
Mumbai high court in 2012 dismissed all the members of the trust due to such allegations. Establishment of a new board was ordered. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Raj Thackarey said that inorder to terminate corruption and disorganization in Shiridi sai trust, the Trust should handover management and responsibilities to Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams (TTD) Board in Andhra Pradesh. He said that he has been observing the exceptional management abilities of TTD and hence proposed TTD for handling Shiridi Sai Baba temple’s responsibility. It is not easy to approve Raj Thackarey’s proposal. However, it will be better if TTD’s working procedure is implemented by Shri Shiridi Sai Sansthan Trust (SSST) for providing better amenities and services to devotees.
