Uber Driver Gets Life Imprisonment
Uber driver Shiv Kumar Yadav who has been accused in rape case has been sentenced to life. A fine of Rs.21,000 has also been imposed on the convict. It is known that court declared Shiv Kumar guilty in the case and announced that verdict will be pronounced today. Case has been filed on Shiv Kumar after he raped a 25-year-old passenger who boarded his cab on 5th December last year. Yadav was convicted for offences under Section 376 (2M) (while committing rape causes grievous bodily harm or disfigures or endangers life of a woman), 366 (abducting with an intent to compel her for marriage), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 323 (causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code. Yadav has a wife and two children, who were present at the court at the time verdict is delivered. Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja who agreed to prosecution’s submission that Yadav has committed a serious crime and deserves no leniency, sentenced him to life.
